Workpackages

Work package 1: Management and coordination of the consortium

Throughout the project's duration, partners coordinate to ensure the successful implementation of planned activities and to manage substantive and financial reporting.

Work package 2: Raising awareness, promotion and communication of the consortium's activities

Raising awareness among the scientific research community and the general public about the importance of open science will occur through various initiatives at both the consortium and partner levels. These activities will be ongoing throughout the entire project duration.

Work package 3: Implementation of training sessions on open science practices and research sharing in accordance with the FAIR principles

The work package aims to enhance awareness and comprehension of open science principles among research, academic, and support staff at project partner institutions. Through presentations on various aspects of open science, the project partners seek to reach the majority of Slovenian researchers, equipping them with fundamental knowledge for conducting scientific research in alignment with open science principles. These activities will be ongoing throughout the entire project duration.

Work package 4: Preparation and implementation of specialized training for operating in accordance with open science principles

The activities are carried out in subsets until the end of 2025.

Subset DS 4.1 Defining the profiles of support experts and creating a competency catalogue for final recipients to operate according to open science principles

A competency catalogue for support experts will be developed to facilitate operations in accordance with open science principles, serving as a foundation for training staff at project partner institutions.

Subset DS 4.2 Development of a training program for data stewards and creation of manuals

The project partners will develop a training program for data stewards, drawing upon best practices from abroad. This program will form the foundation for training sessions within the scope of this project, but it can also serve as a framework for training and education in formal and informal settings (such as academic study programs or informal training sessions in various organizations).

Subset DS 4.3 Implementation of training for data stewardship

The training sessions will be conducted in accordance with the competency catalog for support experts and the specialized training program outlined in sub-assemblies DS 4.1 and DS 4.2.

Subset DS 4.4 Establishment of a group of support experts/coordinators to assist staff at the level of end recipients and beyond in training and implementing operations according to open science principles

To address common issues related to organizing support structures and infrastructures for open science, the project partners will form a group of support experts/coordinators. In doing so, they will consider existing infrastructures and initiatives in the field of open science and integrate them into a unified entry point.

Work package 5: Preparation and distribution of a manual for operating in accordance with open science principles, with a focus on research data management

As part of the project, the partners plan to prepare, publish, and distribute at least two practical manuals to serve as supporting materials for researchers. The first manual is scheduled to be completed by June 2024.

Work group 6: Comprehensive adjustment of operations in accordance with open science principles and evaluation of the results of the consortium partners

Throughout the entire project duration, the project partners will undertake activities to integrate the principles of open science into the organization's processes and among researchers. These activities are planned across various subsections.

Subset DS 6.1 Analysis of business/organizational models of support structures to facilitate operations in accordance with open science principles, tailored to the specific needs of individual consortium partners, and providing recommendations based on the findings

The project partners will analyze their organization's situation regarding research data management and legal, ethical, and other aspects related to open science.

Subset DS 6.2 Plan for operational adjustments in accordance with open science principles and piloting the implementation of the most significant adjustments

In the analysis, the project partners will identify necessary changes to internal legal acts and organizational structures required to enforce open science principles. They will also assess the presence of suitable infrastructures and their integration.

Subset DS 6.3 Preparation of internal organizational regulations, documents, and policies for the final recipients

The project partners will incorporate provisions on open science into their internal regulations, which govern the implementation of stable funding for research activities.

Subset DS 6.4 Making adjustments

Simultaneously with the preparation of legal acts outlined in subsection DS 6.4, the project partners will undertake organizational, personnel, and infrastructural adaptations of work processes, technologies, digital repositories, and libraries.

Subset DS 6.5: Evaluation of project results

The project partners will verify the achievement of the planned project goals through an evaluation process that will consider the requirements of the public tender and the established objectives.
